You Are Welcome!

Our hope is that you will find That Tilly Baptist is not a building or social club, but a multicultural, intergenerational family centred on Jesus, focused on loving God and our neighbours. You are welcome here, no matter why and no matter who you are.

Sunday Services at Tilly Baptist are relaxed and friendly and a wide range of people enjoy coming along and being involved.

We have two Sunday services

At 9am we have a quieter service for about an hour and no children’s provision.

At 11am our family service lasts about an hour and a half.

We generally begin with a welcome and then a time of singing and prayers. We would usually stand for singing and sit for prayers, but whoever is leading at the front will usually make that clear.

The children are generally in the main service for the first 20 minutes or so and then go out to their groups.

The sermon is always based on the Bible and seeks to connect the reality of faith in Jesus to ordinary, everyday life.

We always finish with good coffee, tea and biscuits and a chance to speak to people. Please do stay and introduce yourself.

Communion

Communion is open to all who want to recognise and remember what Jesus has done for them. So please feel free to take the bread and wine (juice actually…) or simply pass it on to the person next to you.

The person leading communion will give instructions on being served and when to eat the bread and drink the wine.

Offering

As part of our worship an offering box is available. Many of our members give by standing order, but some still prefer to give cash offerings If you are visiting, please don’t feel obliged to give!

Live Stream

Most of our 11am services are filmed and streamed live on YouTube. If you don’t want to be filmed, please choose a seat towards the back.

Finding your way

You might see people nip in and out of the door next to the band. It is the main access to the back of the church, where the kitchen, toilets and Children’s Sunday Groups rooms are located.

Toilets & Baby Changing

There are 2 toilets in the back of the church. During the service you might have to step across some children or helpers to get to them, but they won’t mind. There is a baby changing station in the disabled toilet.

We know it might feel a bit awkward marching up to the grey door during the service – you could also leave through the double glass doors at the back, go around the church to your left once outside and use the white door on the left (it should be open during services). Then proceed to the back hall.

Children and Young People

During the first half of the service those up to the age of 13 head out to their groups where they have fun and learn from the Bible, lead by responsible, enthusiastic and experienced leaders. If you have children with you, feel free to follow the others out and connect with the various group leaders.

Depending on current needs the make-up of the groups might change for a season.

CRECHE

is for babies and toddlers up to 5 years old.

JAM (Jesus And Me)

is for children from P1 – P7.

No Limits

is for P7 – S2 and meets on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month.

Children and babies are also welcome to stay in the main service. If they make some noise that’s no problem, feel free to stay where you are or pop into the vestibule.

All our leaders are PVG checked.

Dear parents of young children,

You and your little ones are very welcome. Jesus said “let the children come to me” and we want to do that. We pray you are able to relax and make yourself at home with us. We suggest you sit toward the front as it’s easier for your small people to see and hear what’s going on and it keeps them from getting bored by the backs of heads.

God put the wiggle in children, so don’t feel you have to suppress it in His house. We love to see them dancing and singing along with us. They could teach us a thing or two about joy!

Be at home

If they are getting restless and need to go out, though, please feel comfortable taking them to the back hall through the door beside the band.

There is space to nurse or play, and changing facilities are available. The crèche and kids clubs come through after about 20 minutes of the service. You are welcome to leave your little one if they’ll settle, stay with them, or come back to join the service.

Feel free to nip into the kitchen to get some water or heat up a bottle.

Dear other members and visitors,

The presence of children is a gift to this church. Please welcome the children and give encouragement to their parents. Sometimes it gets noisy, and sometimes it’s messy but we are glad to be part of God’s family and enjoy the chaos! Let’s let children and their grown-ups know that they are at home in this house of worship.

Get Involved

A lot of church is about friendships. Apart from joining a Life Group, a great way to meet new people is to  get involved in a practical way.

Some teams like the Stewards and those serving Tea & Coffee require just a smile and a willingness to help.

But you could also add your skills to the Worship, Sunday School or Catering Team. Speak to anyone you see serving that way or get in touch by emailing secretary@tillicoultrybaptist.org and we would love to connect you.

Weekly Bulletin by Email

There are plenty of activities and events that go on at the church for young people, families, men, women and older folks. These are detailed on the events page and in the weekly church bulletin.

Email secretary@tillicoultrybaptist.org to be added to the mailing list. You can always unsubscribe at the bottom of any email.

Life Groups

Life Groups are about building relationships and friendships, supporting each other in prayer and practical ways, developing and deepening our faith together, studying God’s word and having fun. They are a place where you should be safe to be yourself, to use your gifts and talents and share honest questions.

If you are new to our church they are also a great way of getting to know a few folk really well and quickly, which makes settling into church that much easier.
